Places of Interest in GallupA city in McKinley County in the US state of New Mexico, Gallup boasts a number of trading posts, shops, and galleries offering a unique blend of Native American Culture with an affluent assortment of Authentic Indian and Southwest Hispanic arts and crafts. Housed in historic Santa Fe Railroad Depot, Gallup Cultural Center is operated by the Southwest India Foundation that supports Native American tribes all through the Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, and Colorado. The center boasts exhibits on native storytelling traditions, art, a museum shop, and a cafe. The admission in the museum is free of cost.
Red Rock ParkOffering an assortment of recreational and cultural activities, Red Rock Park is located around right miles east of downtown Gallup. The campground of the park offers water and electrical hookups and boasts showers and restrooms. There are number of archaeological sites scattered all through the park. The park becomes home to Intertribal Indian Ceremonial in August. This event includes craft demonstrations, dance, and indigenous food.
Red Rock MuseumLocated in downtown Gallup, Red Rock Museum boasts changing exhibits on Native American art, culture, and history. The frequently rotating exhibits of the museum include historic and contemporary art from the local Hopi, Zuni, and Navajo tribes. The museum also features information on history of the city, including its coal mining past.
