Enid is the county seat of Garfield County and is located in the Red Carpet Country region of Oklahoma, US. Founded during the Land Run of 1893 and named after a character in the eminent British poet Lord Tennyson's masterpiece ‘Idylls of the King’, this city is also known as ‘Wheat Capital’ of the United States because it has the world’s third largest grain storage capacity. Visitors would be best advised to visit this city for its historical and cultural quotients, and the best time to do so would be September when Enid commemorates its Land Run history by hosting the Cherokee Strip Days and Parade. Along the same note, a visit to Enid's Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center (that preserves the local history of the Land Run of 1893) and the Humphrey Heritage Village (for the original Enid land office and other historical buildings) would come highly recommended. The city is also home to the annual Tri-State Music Festival that was started in 1932 and is characterized by a Jazz music festival, a parade, a grand concert and a carnival.
