Places of Interest in ColmarLocated on the Alsatian Wine Route, Colmar is a French city. It is the third largest commune in the Alsace region in north eastern France. Anyone who is interested to learn about nearly 1,000 years of European History must plan a trip to Colmar. The city has exceptionally and wonderfully preserved historical center which has been classified as a "protected area". In order to safeguard the historical center from more than 25 years restoration and improvement work is going on continuously. While taking a stroll in the streets of Colmar, you will come across countless century-old half-timbered houses, well developed pedestrian town center, and lovely canals. While in the city, how can one miss to visit "the Little Venice," the world famous and romantic district! Grab the opportunity to taste the Alsace wine in Colmar. Located at the foot of the vineyard, the city is also known as the "Capital of Alsace Wines!" This beautiful and scenic city is also the birthplace of Bartholdi, the Sculptor and father of the world famous "Statue of Liberty."
Popular for its renowned Isenheim altarpiece, Unterlinden is one of the most famous museums in France. Founded in a place known as "Under the Linden tree" during the 13th century it was initially one of the largest monasteries of the Alsace region. Later during 19th century, the monastery was converted into a museum. Today, the museum owns a rich collection of paintings and sculptures ranging from the late Middle Ages to the early Renaissance period. It is home to the Issenheim altarpiece painted by Grunewald (master of late Gothic art). Apart from these here are art works which include wrought iron, ceramics, furniture, pewter, and silverware.
Toy MuseumThe Colmar Toy Museum, housed in a former cinema, provides fun opportunities to both children and adults. Here, visitors can see collection of toys ranging from 19th century till date. In this three floored building, visitors can see antique toys, various cartoon characters, vintage teddy bear, first Barbie doll, video games, robots, scale models, miniature trains, and more. The second floor of the museum is the major highlight. A network of trains covers the entire floor. Visit and discover the mesmerizing history of Toys and Games!
Bartholdi MuseumThe Bartholdi Museum has been dedicated to Auguste Bartholdi, the French sculptor and the father of the world famous "Statue of Liberty". The museum is in the center of the Old Town, and is located in the house where Bartholdi was born. The three storied building displays numerous models of the monuments by the sculptor. A place within the museum has been especially dedicated to the original models of some of his masterpieces such as the Lion of Belfort, and the Statue of Liberty in New York.

My first experience with CheapOair was very good! The reservations made to fly to Greece had smooth connections at each airport.
