Explore Miami

Miami Beach caters to the moneyed crowd. At upscale shopping centers like Lincoln Road Mall and renowned spas (Agua Spa at the Delano is a favorite), residents and visitors spend boat loads for decadent experiences and comfortable clothing. Night owls shell out hundreds on drinks at dance clubs and bars. Sophisticated types observe the art deco architecture and stop by the Bass Museum of Art in the afternoons. Relaxing on the sand is truly the best free activity. Most cost-conscious visitors spend their days lounging on the beach or swimming, surfing and kayaking in the Atlantic Ocean. Also, don’t forget to stop by the very moving Holocaust Memorial. Miami is one of South Florida’s premier vacation destinations, with beaches, great weather, history, culture, sports, and entertainment. Downtown Miami, separated from the Atlantic Ocean by the Biscayne Bay and Miami Beach, is a modern metropolis and cultural treasure trove. From the museums to the streets of Little Havana, you can always find plenty of things to do. Across the bay, Miami Beach, with it is Art Deco District, fantastic stretch of beachfront, and fun vibe, is a must-see in the area. Outside the city, but nearby, is Everglades National Park, known for its unique ecosystem and wildlife.

Things to Do in Miami

Miami Beach

Located on a barrier island and connected to the mainland by a series of bridges, Miami Beach is a mix of quiet neighborhoods, lively entertainment-focused areas, and long stretches of soft-sand beaches. For visitors, South Beach and the Art Deco Historic District, with pastel buildings from the 1930s and early 1940s sporting classic neon signs, is one of the main highlights. An expensive tourist district, this area features numerous beachfront restaurants, shops, hotels, and plenty of sunbathing opportunities. The most popular street in this area is Ocean Drive, a section of road located along the oceanfront and home to some beautiful Art Deco buildings. One block inland, running parallel with Ocean Drive, is Collins Avenue. Collins Avenue is State Road A1A and is the main oceanfront street in Miami Beach, joining numerous neighborhoods.

South Beach

Located at the southern end of Miami Beach is a glorious stretch of sand known as South Beach. This wide section of beach fronts the ocean about the same name. Often packed in summer, this is the most popular beach in Miami and one of the top beaches in Florida. It is a place to see and be seen, but also a place to swim and enjoy the shallow waters, escape the heat, and soak up the sun. A paved walk lines the beach, and in behind is Ocean Drive, where motorists cruise slowly by and take in the sights.

Haulover Beach

This 1.5-mile beach is located north of Miami Beach, between the Intracoastal Waterway and Atlantic Ocean. Haulover Beach Park is noted for blue waters, soft sand and plenty of picnic areas. The park regularly hosts kite-making workshops and sells kites to fly in a big grassy area facing Biscayne Bay. There is a tennis center, golf course and dog park, too. Haulover Beach is also the host of a stretch of clothing optional beach. So, if you forgot to pack a suit- no problem! Or, if you are looking to get some sun without any tan lines, well, this is the place for you. There are beach wheelchairs for rent at Haulover Beach Park. Pedestrian tunnels link to the park and marina on Biscayne Bay. Nine-hole golf course, tennis courts, kite flying area and kite shop.

Best Time to Fly to Miami

The best time to visit Miami Beach is between March and May when the sun shines with temperatures in the high 70s and low 80s during the day. Apart from the gorgeous weather, a spring visit allows you to sidestep the peak winter rates. This part of Florida enjoys a subtropical climate, meaning it’s usually warm year-round and a bit rainy.

CheapOair Customer Reviews

Greece Getaway

My first experience with CheapOair was very good! The reservations made to fly to Greece had smooth connections at each airport. I was hoping for the ability to watch the reservation price and adjust it as the trip got closer, but once I locked in my reservation, the price couldn’t be changed. Text messages from them were clear and kept me informed on the flight plan! I would rate this experience as very good. - Bette  Dec 01, 2024
