Qutub Minar
Qutub Minar was built during 1193 and 1368, and used to rank as the world’s tallest skyscraper then. It was constructed along with Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque around 1198 and this mosque complex is one of the earliest surviving Islamic structures in the Indian subcontinent. The Qutub Minar is 72.5 meter high minaret tapering into 5 storeys. It is best described as a subject of delightful artisanship and ornate Persian architectural styles.
Red Fort
The Red Fort is a historical fort named for its massive enclosing walls of red sandstone and situated in Delhi. Built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1659, it served as the residence of the Mughal emperors for nearly 200 years before being serially subdued by Marathas, Sikhs and British. The Indian Prime Minister gives a speech on the country’s Independence Day (15 August) and then hoists the Indian Tricolor flag here ever since 1947. The Red Fort also houses several museums that contain artifacts related to the former emperors.
Jama Masjid
Jama Masjid or Masjid-i Jahan-Numa (literally translating to the World-Reflecting Mosque) is one of the largest mosques in India. This mid-17th century mosque is one of the last monuments built under Mughal emperor Shah Jahan’s aegis and had then cost 1 million rupees. It is bounded by three great gates, four towers and two 40 meter high minarets, and it can accommodate over 25000 people at a time.
