Chepauk Palace
Chepauk Palace was the official residence of the Nawab of Arcot from 1768 to 1855. It was one of the first buildings in India to be built in the Indo-Saracenic style. This building is famous for its intricate carvings, wide arches, red brick walls and lime mortar.
Ripon Building
Named after Governor-General of British India- Lord Ripon, the Ripon Building is a top class example of the Neo-classical style of architecture in Chennai. It was built in 1913. This grand white superstructure is located near the Chennai Central railway station and was built at a princely sum of INR 750000 then.
Triumph of Labour
The Triumph of Labour is a statue installed at the Marina Beach opposite to the University of Madras. It is similar to the famous Seocnd World War photo in which a few American Marines were raising the US flag after the Battle of Iwo Jima. It was sculpted by Debi Prasad Roy Chowdhury. Triumph of Labour was installed 26 January 1959 and is the earliest one to be erected on the beach.
