Explore Fuzhou
Fuzhou (also known as Foochow) is the capital of Fujian province, China. It is situated on the bank of an estuary of the Min River and is nicknamed the ‘City of Banyans’ for its large number of banyan trees. The city experiences mild weather and picture-perfect natural scenery comprising many forest parks, gardens, historic temples, centuries-old architecture and vintage streets. You should visit here for its Yushan Scenic Area. Perched on a mountaintop, this tourist hotspot is centrally based around a 1000-year-old White Pagoda temple.
Things to do Fuzhou
Sanfang Qixiang (or Three Lanes and Seven Alleys)
Sanfang Qixiang is the prime historic and cultural hotspot in Fuzhou. Spread across 38 hectares, it is a hotbed of 268 ancient residences related to Ming and Qing Dynasty buildings beginning 1368 AD. This place is also home to over 400 rich and politically affluent residents and was thus formerly known as the 'Beverly Hills of Imperial China.’
Xihu Gongyuan (or West Lake Park)
The West Lake Park is a centrally-located scenic urban park in Fuzhou. It features boats that visitors can rent to take explore the lake. The lake is dotted with some sidewalk and a boardwalk. One can also go through an arching footbridge to go to the Fuzhou Science Museum that features dinosaurs.
Hualin Temple
Hualin Temple is a 1000-year-old Buddhist temple in downtown Fuzhou that now only functions as a small museum. Built it is the oldest existing wooden architecture in South China and flaunts typical Tang dynasty’s architectural style and elegance.
