Newark Museum’s science section is hallmarked by Dreyfuss Planetarium and the 70000-specimens strong Victoria Hall of Science.
Branch Brook Park
The Branch Brook Park is home to the largest collection of cherry blossoms in the US. It was founded in 1895 as the nation’s first county park and was designed by landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead who had designed New York City’s Central Park. It has more than 4300 cherry blossom trees across over fourteen different varieties, thus attracting its name of the Cherryblossomland. This park also hosts Cherry Blossom Festival every year in April.
Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart
Built during 1899 and 1954, the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart is the fifth-largest cathedral in North America and seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark. This cathedral is a breathtaking example of French Gothic architecture and is a considered a mirror image of the one located at Rheims in France. The Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart tops at 323 feet and is focally marked by its generous use of stained glass, 3 rose windows and imported marbles.
