Explore Phoenix

Phoenix is the capital and most populous city of the US state of Arizona and the most important city in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The city evolved on the world map as ancient native American community who made its arid land arable by spewing a network of irrigation canals before deserting it in mid-15th century. The city then became a site of many gruesome battles in the Civil War. Phoenix as a name was suggested by Lord Darrell Duppa, one of the earliest settlers after the Civil War here, to signify a city born from the ruins of a former civilization.
