Fort San Pedro
A military defense structure in Cebu, Fort San Pedro was built by the Spanish under the command of the first governor of the Captaincy General of the Philippines. The fort is located in the area now called as the Plaza Independencia. Triangular in shape, this fort has two sides facing the sea while the third side faces the land. The front side was defended with a strong palisade made of wood while the other two sea-facing sides were defended with the artillery. Fort San Pedro is the oldest triangular bastion fort in the Philippines.
Basilica del Santo Nino
Commonly known as the Santo Nino Basilica, Basilica del Santo Nino is a minor basilica in Cebu. It is the oldest Roman Catholic Church in the country. Basilica del Santo Nino is built on the place where the image of Santo Nino de Cebu was found during the journey of Miguel Lopez de Legazpi. On the site, there is also a museum putting on showcase the antique church furniture, old church documents, and antique vestments.
Magellan's Cross
Housed in a chapel next to the Basilica Minore del Santo Nino on Magallanes Street, Magellan's Cross is a Christian cross planted by Spanish and Portuguese explorers as ordered by Ferdinand Magellan upon his arrival in Cebu. There is a sign below the cross describing the original cross as encased inside the wooden cross found in the heart of the chapel. As per the beliefs, the original cross has been destroyed or disappeared after Magellan's death and the present cross is a replica planted there by the Spaniards after they successfully Christianized the country.
