Things to do in Delhi
India Gate
Constructed to commemorate the death of Indian soldiers during the First World War and the Afghan Conquest in 1919, India Gate is located at Rajpath, which is one of the most prominent areas in the city. This remarkable monument is constructed in sandstone and soars to a height of 160 feet. The names of the soldiers of the First World War and Afghan conquest are inscribed in the wall of this monument. There is an undying flame naming 'Amar Javan Jyoti' at this monument. This flame was added to the India Gate post-independence in the memory of the soldiers of the Indo-Pak War of 1971.
Red Fort
Built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1638, Red Fort is a red sandstone fort home to a number of museums. This fort was the political and ceremonial center of Mughal government. Every year, on the Independence Day of India i.e., 15th August, Prime Minister of India hoists the national flag at this monument.
Qutab Minar
Qutab Minar is a tower of victory constructed by Qutab-ud-din Aibak (Slave Dynasty) after the conquest over Delhi's last Hindu kingdom. There are five storeys in the minaret in which three storeys are made of red sandstone and the fourth and fifth storeys are of sandstone and marble. There is also a 7-metre high iron pillar that is located in the courtyard of Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque, located at the foot of the minaret.
Best Time to Fly to Delhi
Delhi experiences three seasons- summer, monsoon, and winter. Summers in Delhi start from the month of April and continues up to the month of July. In this season, the weather is hot and humid, and the temperatures lie in the range of 25 degrees to 45 degrees Centigrade. Monsoon occurs between July and mid-September. In this season, the city experiences rainfall that gives relief from hot and humid weather. Temperature in monsoon lies in the range of 30 degrees to 35 degrees Centigrade. Winter brings extreme cold and low temperature. The season begins from December and continues till January. The best time to visit Delhi is either during the months of February and March or October and November. Other than these months, the city is either too hot or too cold.
