Explore Bangkok

Bangkok is the capital and most populous city of the Kingdom of Thailand. It wows its visitors with its superlative mix of world-class architecture, magnificent temples, flamboyantly decorated shrines, royal palaces, several 16th century canals, traditional markets and a vibrant nightlife. Bangkok is axially known for its Chao Phraya River that sews all major parts of the city like the Grand Palace, sacred Wat Phra Kaew Temple and Wat Pho Temple and touches the opposite end of Khmer-topped Wat Arun Temple. Visitors also treat this city as a gateway to other major parts of the country.

Grand Palace

The Grand Palace is the official residence of the royal family since 1782. Scenically located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, it hosts many royal ceremonies and administrative functions of national significance every year. It is divided into four main parts, one is a public museum, one is residence, one contains opulently decorated temples (central to which is the Temple of the Emerald Buddha), and the last part hosts government offices.

Wat Pho

Located some distance away from the Grand Palace, stands the country’s oldest temple- Wat Pho. A star attraction here is a 45 meter long and 15 meter high statue of Lord Buddha that explains its alternative name of the Temple of the Reclining Buddha Wat Pho is also called Wat Chetuphon, It is a preferred place of healing and is famous for its spiritual ambiance. Visitors can get themselves pampered by Thai or foot massages in traditional medical school located in the temple.

Wat Arun (‘Temple of Dawn’)

Wat Arun is a famous Buddhist temple situated on the banks of the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok. It derives its name from the Hindu god Aruna, who is personified as the radiations of the rising sun. This temple is famous because the first light of the day reflects from its spires with white iridescence. The temple is said to be about 400 years old though its distinctive spires were built in the early 19th century.

Bangkok Travelers' Reviews

Food Capital of World

Loved the food capital of the world, the very cosmopolitan population, world-class shopping. Too many cars, too many people, and that's before the tourist season. Loved the islands. - Yvette  Oct 16, 2024

Prague Christmas Markets

My wife, Jessica, and our 19-year-old daughter traveled to Prague from Dec 4–11 and had an incredible experience! They stayed at the Dominican Hotel, a charming and conveniently located spot in the heart of Prague. We booked the trip through CheapOair, bundling the hotel and airfare, and found it to be a great value overall. The booking process was seamless, and all confirmation emails were timely and easy to follow. I was especially impressed with the convenience of using CheapOair—it made setting up the trip straightforward without needing a separate travel agent. Their flights were with TAP Air Portugal, and everything went smoothly. Flights were on time, and the airline provided excellent service. We decided to upgrade to Comfort Seating, which was well worth the extra cost for the added comfort, especially for a longer trip. However, I wish we didn’t have to pay extra to select seats so my wife and daughter could sit together—it would be great if that were included in the base price. CheapOair also provided options for early check-in and travel add-ons through their emails, making planning even easier. For excursions, we used Viator.com to arrange activities directly, which worked perfectly. The trip was well-organized, hassle-free, and a fantastic experience overall. We’ll definitely book through CheapOair again and recommend it to anyone looking for a simple and cost-effective way to plan their travel. Thank you for helping make this trip memorable! - Raleigh  Dec 13, 2024
