Ancestral Temple of the Chen Family
Ancestral Temple of the Chen Family is also called Chen Clan Academy or Chen's Lineage Hall which was a place in Guangzhou both for offering up sacrifices to ancestors and for study. Now it serves as Guangdong Museum of Folk Arts and Crafts and showcases the most characteristic Guangdong architecture. It is one of the four major cultural tourist sites in Guangdong Province. The temple complex comprises f 9 halls, 6 courtyards, and 19 buildings connected by corridors. A pair of stone drums (nearly 2.55 meters high) in front of the entrance door and two colored drawing pictures of door-god (around 4 meters height) are the major attraction here.
Huaisheng Mosque
The Huaisheng Mosque is also known as the Light Tower Mosque or the Lighthouse Mosque. Situated on the Guangta Road, it is spread nearly over 3,547 square yards of area. Built around 627, this is the oldest mosque in China. It has been constructed in the original Arab architectural style. The mosque consists of a Moon Tower, a Prayer Hall, and a Lighthouse. Apart from these it also has some scenic spots including an Exhibition Hall, the Ancient Well, trees, and historical relics & tablets with inscriptions.
Sacred Heart Cathedral
The Sacred Heart Cathedral in Guangzhou, also known as the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus or Shishi Catholic Church. This 130-year-old Roman Catholic cathedral is a holy and peaceful site in the bustling downtown Guangzhou. Designed by two French architects, it was completed by Chinese craftsmen in approximately 25 years. It is the biggest in Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Guangzhou and one of the grandest double steeples Gothic architectures in China. The Cathedral is nicknamed as the "Stone House", since all its walls and pillars are made of granite.
Best Time to Fly to Guangzhou
The best times to visit the city of Guangzhou are Autumn & Winter Seasons (October-March). The weather remains mild and rainfall is low. In the month of January, the city turns into world of flowers and flower markets can be found almost everywhere. Avoid visiting the city during summers.
