Explore Mumbai
Mumbai (formerly known as Bombay) is the capital city of the Indian state of Maharashtra. Home to the world's most prolific film industry called the Bollywood, this city is the commercial capital of India and is home to the highest number of millionaires in India. It is built on an archipelago of seven islands and is in close proximity to hill stations, beaches, and jungles. Mumbai is dotted with a delightful mix of Gothic Revival, Art Deco and Indo-Saracenic styled buildings, and the most famous of them is the Gateway of India.
Things to do in Mumbai
Bandra-Worli Sea Link
The Bandra-Worli Sea Link, officially called Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link, is the first cable-stayed bridge to be constructed in open seas in India. It links Bandra in the Western Suburbs of Mumbai with Worli in South Mumbai, and reduces the travel time between these two points from 60-90 minutes to 20-30 minutes.
Taj Mahal Palace
Taj Mahal Palace is one of the top hallmarks of Mumbai. This first grade luxurious hotel is a stellar mix of Renaissance and Islamic architectural styles and was built by the noted industrialist JN Tata in 1903 after he was refused entry to nearby European hotels because he was an Indian. The Taj Mahal Palace was India’s first hotel to employ women and to have a constant supply of electricity. It was reopened in 2010 after the horrific 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai that had left several people injured or dead.
Elephanta Island
Located to the east of Mumbai, the Elephanta Island is one of the islands on the Mumbai Harbour. It is densely wooded with palm, mango, and tamarind trees. This scenic island is best known for its rock-cut cave temples called the Elephanta Caves that dates back to 5th century. The most iconic statue here is that of a 6 meter tall, three-headed Hindu god Sadhashiva, who is the creator, preserver and destroyer of the world and is depicted meditating with closed eyes.
Best time to fly to Mumbai
The best times to fly to Mumbai are the autumn and winter seasons from October to March, as the temperature is mild and pleasant at around 33 degree Celcius during this time. Between late August and early September, the city celebrates its biggest festival - the ten day long Ganesh Chaturthi. Budget travelers can visit Mumbai in the monsoon season from June to September; however monsoons in Mumbai are usually unrelenting and may end up in floods. Overall Mumbai is a year-round tourist destination.

My trip was planned perfectly, from flight to accommodations. I'll be visiting again in the Spring and using CheapOair to plan again. Very satisfied! - Steven Dec 12, 2024
My first experience with CheapOair was very good! The reservations made to fly to Greece had smooth connections at each airport. I was hoping for the ability to watch the reservation price and adjust it as the trip got closer, but once I locked in my reservation, the price couldn’t be changed. Text messages from them were clear and kept me informed on the flight plan! I would rate this experience as very good. - Bette Dec 01, 2024
