Explore Chicago

Chicago is the third-most populous city in the United States. This lakeside city along Lake Michigan is located in the state of Illinois and lies in the Midwest region of the country. It is regarded as the global architecture capital because a large number of architectural styles ranging from Gothic to space-age are present here, and some of the most distinguished architects like Louis Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright have left their mark here. Chicago is also a music enthusiast’s delight because it is home to a varied music scene comprising blues, house, jazz, hip hop and gospel genres. One can come here to enjoy four music festivals including Blues Fest, Gospel Fest and Lollapalooza during June and September.

Things to do in Chicago

Magnificent Mile

The Magnificent Mile (also known as The Mag Mile) is a posh area of Chicago's Michigan Avenue comprising the city’s largest shopping district. It is dotted with a large number of midscale and top-end luxury stores besides several museums, restaurants, and hotels. The Magnificent Mile is also home to some of the country’s tallest buildings like the John Hancock Center and the Trump International Hotel and Tower. Even though it a year-round delight, it is best to visit here during the summer season as it is all soaked in the ‘Gardens of The Magnificent Mile’ festival.

Navy Pier

Chicago’s number one attraction, Navy Pier is lively shipping facility along Lake Michigan. It was opened in 1916 and was renamed eleven years later to its current name to honor the naval veterans of the First World War. The Navy Pier is a box bracket of over 50 acres of posh shopping and dining facilities besides numerous fun rides, parks and gardens. Art enthusiasts can go a little further from here to see some superb examples of art like an anchor from the naval vessel USS Chicago and a statue of actor Bob Newhart.

Shedd Aquarium

Shedd Aquarium (formally known as the John G. Shedd Aquarium) is the former world’s largest indoor aquarium and it is located in Chicago. It was also the first inland aquarium that featured a permanent saltwater fish collection. Opened in 1930, the Shedd Aquarium now contains 32000 animals across 1500 species (including marine organisms, reptiles and amphibians) that reside in 5000,000 US of water.

Best Time to fly to Chicago

The best time to fly to Chicago is during early summer (in April and May) and fall season (in September and October). These two times are characterized by warmer and sunny days plus maximum daylight hours that help a visitor enjoy sightseeing and cultural festivals like Chicago Jazz Festival and Oktoberfest Chicago (in September) and the Chicago International Film Festival (in October). Those wishing to save some dollars on their trip to the city can visit here in winter season that runs from November to March. It is freezing cold but one can also enjoy events like The Magnificent Mile Lights Festival (in November) along with cheaper hotel and flight rates during this time.

CheapOair Customer Reviews

Eugene OR

My trip was planned perfectly, from flight to accommodations. I'll be visiting again in the Spring and using CheapOair to plan again. Very satisfied! - Steven  Dec 12, 2024

Greece Getaway

My first experience with CheapOair was very good! The reservations made to fly to Greece had smooth connections at each airport. I was hoping for the ability to watch the reservation price and adjust it as the trip got closer, but once I locked in my reservation, the price couldn’t be changed. Text messages from them were clear and kept me informed on the flight plan! I would rate this experience as very good. - Bette  Dec 01, 2024
