We were founded by a group of businessmen led by Andres Soriano, one of the country’s leading industrialists.

1946

Operating a chartered Douglas DC-4 – we became the first Asian airline to cross the Pacific on the first of several flights to ferry home US servicemen.

July 4

1952

The first Douglas DC-6B is delivered, bringing Ramon Magsaysay, Sr., then secretary of national defense, home from a visit to the US.

1980

The first Boeing 747-200 – dubbed as Jumbo jet – started flying across the Pacific. As PAL’s new flagship aircraft, it featured 16 full-flat bunk beds called Skybeds at the upper deck exclusive for First Class passengers.
