A member of Star Alliance, South African Airways (SAA) is the most awarded airline of Africa. It runs over 18,500 daily flights to nearly 1,300 airports located across 192 countries. SAA is involved in codes share agreements with 27 other airlines and code share partnerships with United, Air Canada and JetBlue in North America. This collaboration helps in easy connections of SAA’s flights to over 30 cities. SAA has received the Skytrax 'Best Airline in Africa’ Award twelve times in succession. It has also won the “Best Airline Staff Service in Africa” Award three times.
The airline operates domestic and international flights to 40 destinations across the globe. The regular scheduled flights include nonstop flights from New York as well as direct flights from Washington DC (via Dakar) to Johannesburg. The domestic network of SAA runs total 660 flights in a week between Johannesburg – Cape Town, Durban, East London and Port Elizabeth, from its Johannesburg hub, as well as code-shared flights between Lanseria – Cape Town and Durban.
The airline operates flights to 26 destinations across the continent. The destinations include Dakar, Blantyre, Kinshasa, Lagos, Cotonou, Luanda, Entebbe, Libreville, Dar es Salaam, Douala, Abidjan, Livingstone, Maputo, Accra, Lilongwe, Mauritius, Brazzaville, Harare, Ndola, Windhoek, Victoria Falls, Lusaka, Nairobi and Pointe Noire. In its range of international flights, SAA offers flights to different cities in other continents, such as flights from Johannesburg to Frankfurt, London (Heathrow), Washington, Hong Kong, Beijing, Mumbai, Perth, Sao Paulo, Munich and New York.
South African Airlines offers online and mobile check-in to its clients, from 24 hours to 1 hour prior to the departure. Boarding passes can be printed or downloaded on to the phones at the convenience of the passengers, in turn avoiding long queues and hassles.
